One time I was unsure if my tawaf count was complete, and I got an immediate clear answer via the app. It made me feel confident and less anxious." Q: Did you face any difficulties using the app? A: "At first, yes, but Tabung Haji’s training helped a lot. The interface is user-friendly." Based on the conducted semi-structured interviews, the findings illustrate a multifaceted insight into the integration of AI, particularly the e-Taib digital guidance system, into Malaysian Hajj management: Efficiency and Reliability of Digital Guidance (e-Taib ): Both e-Taib Pihtas facilitators and pilgrims affirm the system's efficiency in delivering timely, accurate religious rulings critical for ritual adherence. Facilitators highlighted that e-Taib reduced the need for physical consultation by providing instant, authoritative answers, especially during peak ritual periods. Pilgrims expressed increased confidence and peace of mind upon receiving such immediate assistance. Human Oversight Ensures Religious Authenticity : Facilitators and management personnel emphasized the indispensable role of human intervention in verifying AI-assisted information, preventing errors that could arise from relying solely on automated responses or generic AI platforms such as ChatGPT. This human-AI synergy aligns technological utility with Islamic jurisprudential rigor. Operational Challenges and Connectivity Issues : Interviewees cited intermittent internet connectivity in the Holy Land as the main constraint affecting service consistency. Nevertheless, continuous staffing and backup solutions mitigate such disruptions effectively. Some pilgrims, particularly the elderly or less technologically experienced, initially faced learning curves in using the app but adapted well through pre-departure training. Complementary Health Monitoring Applications : Healthcare responders recognized AI's role in enhancing medical support via wearable technologies, aiding early detection of health risks to pilgrims, complementing other AI systems like e-Taib and crowd management tools. Ethical Alignment with Maqasid al-Shariah : Ethical considerations were prevalent, with stakeholders reaffirming that AI applications must ensure preservation of faith, life, and dignity. Technology serves as an aid rather than a replacement for human religious guidance, embedding AI use within Islamic ethical frameworks. Positive Pilgrim Reception with Areas for Improvement :
