The actual cost of performing Hajj in 2025 is RM33,300 per pilgrim across all groups. However, the amount payable by pilgrims varies depending on the level of financial support provided by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) and government assistance. For the B40 group (bottom 40% of income earners), the payable amount is RM16,000 , with an additional RM1,000 subsidized by the government . Tabung Haji provides RM15,000 in financial assistance , covering 45% of the total cost , making Hajj more accessible for low- income households. For the M40 group (middle 40%), pilgrims are required to pay RM23,500 . They receive RM9,800 in TH financial assistance , which accounts for 29% of the total cost . This reflects a moderate subsidy level, balancing affordability while encouraging financial contribution. Meanwhile, the T20 group (top 20% of income earners) must bear the full cost of RM33,300 without any financial assistance from Tabung Haji. This policy ensures that subsidies are targeted toward groups most in need, while wealthier households finance their pilgrimage independently. Overall, the data demonstrates Tabung Haji’s progressive subsidy structure , where financial aid is distributed according to income level to promote equity, fairness, and inclusivity in fulfilling the religious obligation of Hajj.
