Insight Mosaic e-Megazine (First Edition)
10 By Prof. Emeritus Dr. Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak Advisor, USIM Writers’ Pool & Insight Mosaic eMagazine WRITING AS THE INTELLECTUAL LEGACY OF THE UMMAH Writing is one of the key links to knowledge and beyond. When we want to write, we need to read and learn from many sources to produce a relevant “new” article to create “new” ideas, if not wisdom. The power of wisdom is beyond word and can spread far and wide. Hence, the pen is mightier than the sword. The latter needs to be physical, to kill, whereas the former breath into life from great distances. In Islam, the pen is such an instrument that creates a “golden” age that bridged the east and west, north and south in the shortest possible time in history. Their scholars were polymaths who changed the course history of knowledge to one that is multidimensional and transdisciplinary. It is human-centric and God-conscious. In this sense, serious writing is a form of da’wah for humanity as whole, from one generation to the next, creating a shared human heritage since time immemorial. The production of the insight mosaic e-magazine must capture this aspiration to counter the emptiness of the “social media” platform that is now fast invading the world of “writing”! The inaugural edition must therefore distinguish itself by setting a noble mission for the scholar in different fields and disciplines to interact, co-create and collaborate in every dimension possible, with the realm of aqli - naqli towards the Unity of Knowledge and Wisdom. I firmly believe that given the passion and strength demonstrated by members of the UWP and the true spirit of collaboration between various fields of endurance, this e-magazine will set a trajectory it needs for the future. Every article published is not merely text; it is also a living record of intellectual contribution for the mosaic future that lies ahead. May every word we write today continue to bring benefit and blessings for generations to come, the intellectual legacy of tomorrow. Finally, I call upon all writers and thinkers to be partake in narrating history, rather than just becoming bystanders. Let our pens be the light that illuminates minds and hearts, to spread wisdom, and inspires transformation. And inscribes the future! As mentioned in Surah al- Qalamti Nûn. By the pen and what they inscribe.
