Empowering B40 Youth and Indigenous Communities I n a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among the B40 youth and Orang Asli in the tourism sector, USIM, in collaboration with the Centre of Community Engagement and Industry Networking (PLiMJI) and the Faculty of Leadership and Management, joined forces with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Rembau, Negeri Sembilan to conduct the I-Skilled Module Training Program Digital Tourism Entrepreneurship Community-Based Tourism Products, held from November 25 to 26, 2023 at UiTM Rembau. This significant program garnered support from the Negeri Sembilan Tourism Board and USIM’s Centre for Entrepreneurship. Approximately 50 B40 youth and Orang Asli community members from Negeri Sembilan underwent comprehensive theoretical and practical training. The focus was on equipping them with essential digital tourism entrepreneurship skills to manage a business successfully. Beyond imparting skills, the program serves as a platform to mold individuals into community tourism entrepreneurs with high integrity and ethics. Its broader objective includes elevating the lives of families and future generations. The organization of the program also offers participants the chance to obtain a competency certificate as entrepreneurs and employees with foundational knowledge and skills in homestay and community-based tourism careers. The distinguished opening ceremony was officiated by YB. Dato’ Zaifulbahri Idris, the Chembong assemblyperson. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohd Radhi Ibrahim, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Yamin Yasin, Rector of UiTM Rembau Campus, and the esteemed Head of Village/Tok Batin. Anticipated to leave a positive imprint on participants, the local community, and the tourism industry at large, this program signals a significant step towards creating a more vibrant and inclusive entrepreneurial landscape.
