CampusNews 014 T he involvement of halal industry players and religious authorities as USIM’s Halal strategic partners is significant for the implementation of the Bachelor of Shariah (Halal Industry) with Honors program which is the first program in the 3u1i Industry Mode (3 years in university and one year of practical training/internship in industry) offered by Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and is the first in Malaysia for a halal study program. To strengthen this strategic relationship, the collaboration led by the Faculty of Syariah and Law of USIM held an Appreciation Ceremony and Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Letter of Intent (LoI) together with 12 strategic partners of the Halal Industry at the Tenera Hotel on 13th March 2023. Students will be placed for one year in the industry to increase their availability to enter the industry with exposure to the knowledge and skills of industrial operations management and Malaysian Halal certification involving 12 strategic partners, namely, Gerbang Alaf Gerbang Alaf Restaurants Sdn. Bhd., TH Hotel & Residence Sdn. Bhd, Serunai Commerce Sdn Bhd, Brahim’s SATS Food Services Sdn Bhd, Sushi King Sdn. Bhd, Mamee Double-Decker (M) Sdn Bhd, Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company Sdn Bhd, Texas Chicken (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd, Secret Recipe Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd, Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Department, Islamic Religious Affairs Department of Negeri Sembilan, and Selangor Islamic Religious Department. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Muhammad Tauffik Mohd Noor, Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Research and Innovation), expressed gratitude for the sincerity and enthusiasm given by the industry to USIM. According to Muhammad Tauffik, work-based learning (Work-Based Learning) guided by the 2u2i and 3u1i Academic Program Implementation Guidelines provided by KPT is seen as very significant and can benefit the industry, university, and the students themselves.
