“PESAN IBU” U S I M R a y a s h o r t f i l m featuring renowned actress Fauziah Ahmad Daud Directed by Associate Professor Dr. Faizal Kasmani, Director of Strategic Communication Centre, the film tells the story of Aiman, a religious secondary school student aspiring to enter university to study medicine. He is simultaneously bu r dened wi t h t he responsibility of caring for his mother, a rubber tapper, and his younger sibling following their father’s death. Mu h amma d F i k r i Hairulazmy, a student from the Faculty of Science and Technology, USIM portrays the main character, “Aiman.” T he 2024 USIM Raya short film titled “Pesan Ibu” stars prominent actress Fauziah Ahmad Daud, also popularly known as Ogy, who plays the role of “Mak” in the film. USIM Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani, expressed his excitement about Fauziah Ahmad Daud’s casting as the lead in this year’s USIM Raya short film. “Choosing Ogy as ‘Mak’ is perfect because her credibility as a legendary actress who brings depth to any role can profoundly impact the audience. The pairing with Muhammad Fikri Hairulazmy, who plays ‘Aiman,’ also demonstrates that USIM students have hidden talents that can be showcased,” he said. “Pesan Ibu” was produced entirely by the Strategic Communication Centre, USIM with the help of USIM alumni and expert advice from Professor Dr. Mahadi J. Murat as the Production Advisor. Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani stated that the success of the production, fully supported by the Strategic Communication Centre along with the expertise of faculty and students from the Faculty of Leadership and Management and the Faculty of Science and Technology, proves the full utilization of available talent. “The talent fluidity intended for all USIM members includes various aspects that can be seen in the production of the short film ‘Pesan Ibu.’ Fikri, a third-year student from the Information Security and Assurance program, Faculty of Science and Technology, excellently embodies the character ‘Aiman,’” he added. The Raya short film also received sponsorship from the Al Baghdadi Study Centre and collaboration from Has Production and Canon. To date, the film has attracted over 100,000 views on the USIMTV YouTube channel since its release on April 1, 2024. CampusNews 033
