T o establish a research and training center (Az- Zahra’ Research and Training Unit) as well as to expand the dissemination of Risalah an- Nur in USIM and surrounding community is among the essence of the contents of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by USIM together with Hayrat Foundation, Turkiye. The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Hayrat Foundation Headquarters located in Zeytinburnu, Turkey, with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Professor Dr. Adnan Mohamed Yusoff represented USIM, while Hayrat Foundation was represented by Said Yavuz, Member of the Board of Trustees and Vice President of Hayrat Foundation, Turkiye. In addition to the establishment of the Az-Zahra Research and Training Unit and the expansion of Risalah An-Nur dissemination activities, the MoU also involves the proposal to offer Risalah an- Nur programs and classes for free according to request, consultation to USIM staff and students who wish to do the program mobility in Turkey, as a facilitating medium between USIM students who want to do a short semester in Turkey and for Turkish students who want to continue their studies at USIM as well as collaboration in research studies or publications between Hayrat Malaysia and USIM. For the record, Hayrat Foundation Turkiye also has a branch in Malaysia (Hayrat Malaysia), established in September 2012, dedicated to humanitarian aid activities, unity, culture, education, and health in the country and abroad. U SIM recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hadhramout University, Yemen. USIM was represented by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani, while President, Professor Dr. Mohammed Saeed Khanbash, represented Hadhramout University. This MoU results from the USIM visit led by the Vice Chancellor to the Yemeni Embassy on April 10 this year. Through this collaboration, USIM and Hadhramout University agreed to establish collaboration in various fields, including joint publication and research grants, student mobility and staff exchange programs, joint online courses, joint supervision for master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs, offerings offshore master’s or PhD programs as well as co-organizer of conferences, seminars and symposiums. Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani, in his welcome speech, said, “Through this MoU, we can promote USIM and share expertise to attract more students from Yemen to study at USIM. So far, USIM has two undergraduate students from Yemen and 24 at the Post Graduate level”. “USIM dan Hadhramout University can fully utilize this collaboration and positively impact the development of science, the development of human capital and the sharing of expertise in the Islamic World.” He said again.
