70 Industry and Agency Partners USIM Appreciates T he Centre for Community Engagement and Industry Networking (PLiMJI), USIM hosted an appreciation ceremony for its industry and agency partners on 10th July 2024 at Nilai Springs Resort Hotel. The event aimed to honour the partners who have collaborated with USIM in advancing joint initiatives across research, consultancy, training, learning, innovation product development and commercialization, as well as community engagement programs. Tan Sri Dr. Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani, The University Board of Directors Chairman, stated, “Industrial training helps student acquire knowledge and skills that are not covered in the academic syllabus, often referred to as “Street Smart”. At USIM, we are committed to expand and enhance this aspect of our educational approach.” “We aim to equip students with practical, real-world experience that complements their academic learning and preparing for the demands of the workforce,” he added. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Muhammad Tauffiq Mohd Noor, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) USIM also stated, “This strategic collaboration facilitates the transfer and dissemination of knowledge produced within universities, and it can be highlighted through the involvement of various parties, especially the industry.” He also emphasized the current reality of industry-driven higher education, highlighting the need for proactive and forward-thinking collaboration between universities and industries for mutual benefits. The ceremony included the presentation of awards and recognition to industries and agencies. Award recipients were selected based on their contributions and collaborations with USIM throughout 2023. Additionally, appreciation was extended to the three participants of the CEO@ Faculty Programme USIM for the years 2022-2024. This program involved the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development, the Chief Executive Officer of Lembaga Tabung Haji, and the Managing Director of KPMG Malaysia. At the end of the appreciation ceremony, appointment certificates were presented to a total of 15 Chief Executive Officers (CEO) under the CEO@Faculty Programme USIM for 2024 – 2026. The recipients included Yayasan Ri, Yayasan Restu, Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia (IKIM), World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur Group, Kementerian Dalam Negeri, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM), Cybersecurity Malaysia, Aurelius Hospital Nilai, Skop Production Sdn Bhd, Institut Terjemahan dan Buku Malaysia, Persatuan Pergigian Malaysia (IDAM), and Hajeedar and Associates Sdn. Bhd. The awards presented at the ceremony included the Special Award for Consultation Projects, Special Award for Research Grants, Special Award for Contributions/ Endowments, Special Award for Revenue-Generating Projects, Special Award for Alumni Contributions, Industry Contribution Award, and Agency Contribution Award.
