USIMCollaborationwith Bank IslamMalaysia Berhad Targets Account Holder Increase for 2024 USIM and UNP strengthen academic, training and research collaboration U SIM through its Bursary Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) in support of a joint project that will impact both institutions. BIMB is the first and foremost Islamic banking financial institution in Malaysia, constantly striving to enhance and strengthen cooperation programs that have taken various initiatives to improve the excellence of the Islamic banking industry. This cooperation focuses on promoting the opening of Bank Islam accounts, aiming for a 10% increase in registered users with Bank Islam this year. Zamree Mohamed, Director of Retail Banking and Distribution, BIMB, said that USIM, as a strategic partner, can assist in disseminating information related to this account opening to the public and will receive incentives through it. “Initiatives like this are our way of appreciating our strategic partners who have supported us throughout nearly 41 years of operation.” “The cooperative relationship between USIM and Bank Islam has been long-established since 2012. Various initiatives have been implemented to develop, support, and enrich the development of research and education in fields that will benefit both parties,” said the Vice-Chancellor of USIM at the event. He added that the cooperative relationship built would generate more opportunities and spaces in various fields and would further strengthen the relationship between the university and the industry. “The new era university not only plays a role in developing the curriculum and academic framework but also needs to be more creative in creating an ecosystem that supports a good relationship between the university and the industry,” he further stated. The MoU signing ceremony was officiated by Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Sharifudin Md Shaarani, Vice- Chancellor of USIM, together with Mr. Zamree Mohamed, Director of Retail Banking and Distribution, BIMB. Also present at the ceremony were members of the University Management Committee (JKPU) and several representatives from BIMB. T he signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between USIM and Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) took place on 21st February 2024, at UNP, Indonesia. The Rakan Pembimbing Perkhidmatan Awam (AKRAB) of USIM was entrusted to represent the university’s management to ensure the success of this MoU, following a training program for UNP staff and students that was planned earlier in conjunction with the AKRAB Internationalization Program, Go Asean@Padang, Indonesia, from 19th to 24th February 2024. UNP Rector, Professor Dr. Ganefri, signed the MoU document, which had been previously signed by the Vice Chancellor of USIM. In his welcoming speech, UNP Rector expressed his hope that the signing of this MoU would lead to more collaboration between UNP and USIM, particularly in academic, research, and staff and student training aspects. Professor Dr. Ganefri also proposed a joint research project with USIM on the history of West Sumatra and Negeri Sembilan, considering the ancestral roots of Negeri Sembilan’s population originating from Bukit Tinggi, Paya Kumbuh, Minangkabau, and Padang, West Sumatra. It is hoped that this strategic partnership will foster collaboration in all aspects of management for the staff and students of both universities. CampusNews 030
