In doing so, concept cafés contribute to Malaysia’s broader tourism narrative, which includes halal food trails, majestic mosques and cultural attractions. By positioning themselves in this ecosystem, Perlis cafés can emerge not only as lifestyle spaces but also as important nodes in the development of Muslim-friendly rural tourism. Conclusion Concept cafés in Perlis have become an important part of modern tourism experiences, offering unique atmospheres, cultural engagement, and digital visibility. Social media, especially TikTok and Instagram, plays a powerful role in informing, connecting, and persuading travelers. When combined with Malaysia’s reputation for halal gastronomy and its emphasis on Muslim-friendly facilities, these cafés offer more than just coffee and meals. They become spaces that symbolize halal values, creativity, and community wellbeing. With creativity, digital engagement, and alignment with Muslim-friendly principles, concept cafés in Perlis can stand proudly alongside the Harumanis mango as cultural icons of the state. They represent a modern approach to tourism that blends lifestyle innovation with values of gratitude, authenticity, and sustainability. 27 Figure 1ti Balbuk Haus, Perlis. Short for “Balik Bukit”, this rustic concept café is creatively built from recycled materials in an old house, nestled in a traditional kampung area surrounded by paddy fields. With the serene view of limestone hills as its backdrop Balbuk Haus offers visitors not only coffee and conversation but also an authentic slice of Perlis’ natural and cultural charm.
