The Ibnu Ummi Maktum Research Centre — The Ibnu Ummi Maktum Research Centre serves as a platform for research and services dedicated to the special needs community, aiming to promote and inspire a balanced lifestyle. Its primary focus lies in providing education based on a spiritual approach to instill religious knowledge in individuals, with special attention to the diverse learning abilities among persons with special needs, incorporating both Naqli (revealed) and Aqli (human) knowledge. The Centre has achieved a significant milestone by developing the country's first Quran application in Sign Language, with the primary goal of facilitating people with hearing impairments in reading and understanding the Quran. The Malaysia Book of Records has officially recognized this groundbreaking app as the first of its kind in the country. Through this app, the deaf and hearing-impaired community worldwide can now access and read the Quran using Quranic Sign Language. UNESCO - Mizan K4C Hub (Asia Pacific K4C Coordinator) — In 2019, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, under the Mizan Research Centre, Faculty of Leadership and Management was awarded the K4C Mentor Certificate from the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education at the University of Victoria, Canada and Society of Participatory Research, India. The hub was named Mizan K4C Hub and the conferment took place at UNESCO House, New Delhi, India. The Mizan K4C Hub has incorporated the methodology of community engagement, especially Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), primarily in research and academics. As one of the Knowledge for Change (K4C) 22 hubs in 13 countries around the world, Mizan K4C Hub will train the next generation of mentors and leaders in Community-Based Research (CBR) to a global standard developed by UNESCO Chair, particularly in the global south and other excluded regions. USIM and Mizan K4C Hub now act as K4C CBPR training coordinator for Asia Pacific region supported by other K4C hubs in Asia. 37
