AI tools are accessible to anyone connected to the internet. According to an analysis by ElectronicsHub in April 2024, Malaysians spend 48% of their waking hours looking at screens, including smartphones and computers. Since the introduction of ChatGPT in 2022, GAI tools have proliferated, enabling users to create digital content, code, answer questions, and solve problems quickly and affordably. Our reliance on AI has become so pervasive that it surrounds us like water surrounds a fish. Moreover, AI technology has been used in conflicts, including its role in the violence between Israel and Palestine. Without proper regulations or guidelines, AI technology could contribute to a dystopian future where technological advancements lead to increased oppression. To prevent such outcomes, robust governance and ethical frameworks are essential.
