i CHIEF EDITOR’S NOTE Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Here we are again in another edition of the Offstone. In this edition, our theme is AI in Future Communication. It is indeed a very important and interesting discussion to make, as AI technology is a new, exciting development that simultaneously offers risks and ethical considerations. In this edition, we publish 11 articles discussing AI technology in various fields, including journalism, dentistry, tourism, and marketing. Besides that, the articles also provide discussions related to AI and the development in the communication field, including the ethical imperative. Based on the discussion presented in this edition, be it based on empirical study or conceptual discussions, at least there are three important elements pertaining to the development of AI in our lives today. One is the process, the second is the impact, and the third is the ethical consideration. In terms of process, the issues of data availability and quality of data are among the most significant. Besides that, some other issues include poor infrastructure, lack of AI talent and cost. Although only some of these issues are brought up in this edition, these can be discussed further in other editions or discussions in the future. Our authors, however, focus on the process and the ethical considerations related to AI development in this edition to spark more discussions in the future. All of us are hoping that the development of AI will benefit humanity. Some potential includes dealing with pressing issues such as climate change and public health issues. If we leverage AI technology effectively and carefully, it should benefit the majority and give hope for solutions for various issues we are struggling with.
