Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Hisham juga telah menerima pelbagai anugerah atas sumbangan cemerlang beliau dalam bidang penjagaan kesihatan. Antara yang paling membanggakan ialah penganugerahan “Fellowship Ad Hominem” yang berprestij dari Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh pada tahun 2018. Kini, setelah bersara daripada perkhidmatan awam pada April 2023, beliau telah dilantik sebagai Pengerusi Lembaga Pengarah Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) dan Pengarah UCSI Healthcare Group. Beliau turut memegang jawatan sebagai Canselor Universiti Cyberjaya berkuat kuasa 1 Oktober 2023, sekali gus meneruskan sumbangan beliau dalam bidang kesihatan dan pendidikan tinggi negara. T an Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah is a prominent national figure who was at the forefront of Malaysia’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also a surgeon with over 30 years of experience in breast and endocrine surgery. He was born on April 21, 1963 in Sepang, Selangor. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Hisham received his early education at Methodist Boys’ Secondary School, Kuala Lumpur. He pursued his higher education at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, earning his medical degree in 1988. While serving as a Medical Officer in the public service, he obtained a Master’s Degree in General Surgery in 1994. Subsequently, in 1997, after three years as a General Surgeon, he underwent endocrine training in Australia through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Fellowship Training in Breast and Endocrine Surgery. He also completed surgical and management training at several prestigious institutions, including the Academy of Medicine Malaysia (A.M.M.) in 1998, was made a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia (F.A.M.M.) in 2004, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Oxford Business School, United Kingdom, in 2008. His career advanced when he was appointed Consultant Surgeon and Head of the Breast and Endocrine Surgery Unit, Department of Surgery, at Kuala Lumpur Hospital in January 1998. He was later appointed Senior Consultant Surgeon in Breast and Endocrine Surgery and Head of the Department of Breast, Endocrine, and General Surgery at Putrajaya Hospital in August 2002. His strong commitment to medicine, especially general surgery, combined with diligence and continued excellence, led to his appointment as Deputy Director-General of Health (Medical) at the Ministry of Health, Malaysia (MOH). In March 2013, he became the Director- General of Health, MOH. His active involvement in global health including his experience with the World Health Organization (WHO) and his appointment to the Board of the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) has strengthened his reputation as an internationally respected figure. He also contributed his expertise as a Councillor-at-Large of the Executive Board of the International Society of Surgery (ISS) and as Chair of the ISS Global Surgery Committee (2017–2021). He currently chairs the WHO Standing Committee on Health Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response (SCHEPPR) and the Asian Association of Endocrine Surgeons. As a breast and endocrine surgeon, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Hisham has published numerous articles in local and international journals and contributed chapters to various books on endocrine surgery. He is frequently invited as a keynote speaker at national and international conferences.
