| Majlis Konvokesyen ke-21 USIM 47 In 1987, he pursued a master’s degree in Accounting at University of Wollongong, Australia. He, then, continued his studies at the PhD level at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) with course work at University of Memphis, Tennessee, USA. and graduated in 1997 in the field of Accounting and Taxation. His early career yearswere spent in the industry and government departments before joining the academia. He previously worked as a Registration Officer at the Company Registration Office, Ministry of Trade and Industry from 1980 to 1982, and as a Training Officer at Bank Bumiputra (M) Bhd. from 1985 to 1986. Professor Dato’ Dr. Mustafa BinMohd Hanefah joined Faculty of Economics andMuamalat, USIMon February 2, 2007 as a Professor with specialisation in the fields of accounting, corporate governance, shariah, and taxation. He was then appointed as the first Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of USIM from April 15th, 2013 to April 14th, 2016, prior to being appointed as the second Dean of Research and Innovation from December 10th, 2010 to April 14th, 2013. Earlier however, he had held the post of Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Muamalat , USIM, from May 3, 2009, to December 9, 2010. At present, he is a member of the Licensed Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM). Professor Dato’ Dr. Mustafa bin Mohd Hanefah specialises in corporate governance and Shariah and has organised training programs for staff at Bank Muamalat (M) Bhd. and MBSB Bhd. Similar training programs were also held for auditors, Shariah officers, compliance officers, and those in similar fields in Muscat, Oman, in December 2017. He initiated the first Shariah audit training program that was recognised by the Financial Accreditation Agency (FAA), for Bank internal auditors, Shariah executives, and Compliance Officers in Malaysia. He is also a regular presenter at various national budget seminars and conferences and has been involved in many budget-related interviews on television and radio. His views and opinions regarding issues pertaining to the national and global economy, corporate governance as well as other related topics have also been regularly published in numerous local newspapers. Professor Dato’ Dr. Mustafa Bin Mohd Hanefah was also appointed as the first Visiting Professor from Malaysia at the Centre for Economic Research, Nagoya University, Japan, from 15th April 2011 to 15th June 2011, and Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, Japan, from 1st February to 15th February 2016. He has presented papers at countless international conferences and published numerous papers in international journals and books in the fields of Islamic financial reporting and Islamic accounting, Islamic corporate governance, Shariah audit, taxation, and waqaf. He also serves as an Editorial board member in several international journals and has been appointed by various universities in Malaysia and Australia as a Curriculum assessor and External examiner for PhD theses. At USIM, his devotion and services are evident, and his presence has had a great impact, especially to those at the Faculty of Economics and Muamalat. He has since remained passionate and devoted to providing his exceptional service to USIM. For this opportunity and occasion, he humbly expresses his gratitude towards Her Royal Highness Tunku Ampuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani binti Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud; the Chancellor of USIM, the Vice Chancellor, the University’s top management, and the staff who have always been supportive and helpful all this time. It is hoped that all will continuously be blessed and have unceasingly strengths to serve the religion, nation, and community.
