| Majlis Konvokesyen ke-21 USIM 41 Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina played an important role in conceptualizing and publishing a practical microbiology book tailored for medical and dental students. Now in its second edition, this resource has proven invaluable to both lecturers and students in their learning journey. Furthermore, Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina has fostered collaborations with young lecturers, resulting in a series of books centered around infectious diseases, with a unique focus on integrating Naqli and Aqli knowledge. Noteworthy titles include upcoming “Infectious Diseases from an Islamic Perspective” and “Prevention of Infectious Diseases Among Hajj and Umrah Pilgrims”. On a national scale, she contributed multiple chapters to the “Adult Immunization Guideline”, a publication produced by the Malaysian Society of Infectious Diseases and Chemotherapy (MSIDC), catering to medical practitioners across Malaysia. In addition, Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina championed the concept of the Microbiology Quiz, known as i-Microb, at the intervarsity level. This annual competition, inaugurated in 2017, has garnered immense popularity among students and lecturers from the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry across both public and private universities. Beyond fostering healthy competition, this platform empowers students to spearhead programs at the national level. Insya -Allah, plans are underway to elevate this competition to the international stage in 2024. Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina is also engaged in collaborative endeavors with pharmaceutical companies and external agencies, driving community and research initiatives. Notable among these is a research project on hand hygiene among kindergarten children, generously fundedwith RM60,000 byMundipharma Sdn Bhd. Additionally, an infection control workshop for kindergarten teachers received sponsorship of RM8,000 from the Selangor State Government. Furthermore, a short health video production project in collaboration with Tabung Haji showcases Dr. Che Ilina’s dedication to reachingwider audiences with crucial health information. Dr. Che Ilina’s expertise in infection control earned her invitations from Mundipharma to present at international conferences in Hong Kong and the Philippines. Most recently, she was approached by a pharmaceutical giant, GSK to conduct research related to the varicella vaccine. Through her extensive network within the industrial and pharmaceutical sectors, pharmaceutical companies and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) have significantly contributed to the success of conferences organized by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at USIM. Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina has been actively at the forefront of the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. In its initial stages, she spearheaded a group comprising experts in public health, microbiology, family health, and internal medicine to create a series of 10 informative videos addressing COVID-19 and vaccines. These videos were disseminated on social media platforms, YouTube, and shared with the Malaysian Ministry of Health. Furthermore, this dedicated group also produced an e-book on the same subject matter. In addition to these efforts, Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina actively engaged in delivering talks on COVID-19 in various settings such as schools, mosques, offices, and through social media channels. She also had the opportunity to share insights on COVID-19 and research findings in a session led by Professor Muhaya on Facebook. Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina is deeply involved in a multi-faceted research project related to COVID-19, encompassing a clinical study at PPUKM, a laboratory investigation at the University of Malaya, and an online survey on community awareness regarding COVID-19 and vaccines. The research findings have yielded several articles published in reputable journals, including those with Q1 status. These results were also presented to the Malaysian Ministry of Health. Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina’s philosophy centers around fostering teamwork and providing platforms for young lecturers to thrive in their professional journeys. Shemaintains a close relationshipwith both academic and non-academic staff. She dedicates her time to offering guidance and mentorship, not only within the Microbiology unit but also in other departments. Professor Datin Dr. Che Ilina is a source of inspiration, encouraging young lecturers to embark on book authoring, research endeavors, and community service projects.
