| Majlis Konvokesyen ke-20 USIM 33 professors of pathology. Previously, she was appointed as the Head of Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, UKM and the Head of Perinatal Unit, Department of Diagnostic Services, Hospital UKM. She was the chairman of the Conjoint Board of Pathology between 2008 and 2010. She was also the chairman of the Special Interest Group, College of Pathologists, Academy of Medicine Malaysia. Professor Dr. Hayati is also an active researcher with numerous publications and supervisions of PhD and master students as well as an excellent academician and administrator. Since 2011 in USIM, together with other co-researchers, she has secured 15 research grants (a total of 52 grants including from previous appointments) from the Ministry of Higher Education amounting to RM1.4 million (RM3 million inclusive of previous appointments). All the past research were completed on time with various outputs of publications, prototypes, graduation of students and several research awards. She has also successfully patented 4 products from her research. Until now, she has supervised and co-supervised 20 PhD and 40 Masters (professional and MSc.) students. While in USIM, she actively served in scientific committees, organising committees, as advisor to organisers, panel of judges, abstracts and paper reviewer in about 30 international and national conferences and seminars (140 in total, inclusive of previous appointments). As an expert in her field, she sits on the editorial board of Malaysian Journal of Pathology, Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences as well as serving as a reviewer for 12 international journals and 4 local journals. Since 2011, Professor Dr. Hayati has published 48 papers (91 publications inclusive of previous appointments) in mostly Scopus-indexed journals. Besides that, she has also published a book as well as book chapters. In 2009, she was awarded the Darjah Johan Negeri Pulau Pinang . She has received several awards for excellent service and also for teaching from both institutions - USIM and UKM. Her presence since 2011 has made an impact on USIM, whereby it has become a referral centre for placental and perinatal pathology in the region. She has since trained local and international pathologists from UKM, USIM, Ministry of Health and Indonesia.
