Subsequently, he started making a name for himself as an actuarial analyst in various companies and banks worldwide. As an actuarial analyst, his role was to determine the value of insurance products for these organisations, whether the products were conventional or takaful in nature. Among the countries which benefitted from his services were Hong Kong, Mauritius, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Brunei, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Malaysia. Companies in Malaysia which engaged his services include Hong Leong MSIG Takaful, MNRB Retakaful, Munich Re Retakaful, AIA Takaful International Bhd, Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Bhd, ING Public Takaful Ehsan Bhd, Great Eastern Takaful Sdn Bhd and AmMetLife Takaful Berhad. Mr. Hassan Scott Odierno is also dedicated to the development of the next generation of leaders. As such, he accepted the appointment as educational programme advisor at two public universities, namely, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Islamic Science University of Malaysia, for the Master of Science Degree Programme (Actuarial Science) and (Risk Management) at the Faculty of Science and Technology. In addition to his official duties, Mr. Hassan Scott Odierno is also actively involved in voluntarism through non-governmental organisations (NGO). Every week, he leads a team of volunteers to help the homeless around Kuala Lumpur by providing food, encouragement and assistance to help them break free from the shackles of drug addiction as well as finding employment for them. This fervent community spirit also drove him to establish a food bank for the needy in Negeri Sembilan. This cause began with the initiative of several volunteers who gathered surplus food items from a supermarket in Negeri Sembilan and distributed them to those in need within that area. Presently, his efforts have been well received, with the participation of more than 80 volunteers from 18 supermarkets in six towns throughout Negeri Sembilan. The monthly collection of distributable food items for the needy has exceeded 11 tonnes. Despite the hustle and bustle of worldly affairs, he has not neglected his relationship with Allah SWT. Although he is not a native of Malaysia, his service to this country is extraordinary, in line with his principle that the world is a place to sow the seeds of eternal afterlife.
