This makes the study relevant not only to technologists and developers, but also to scholars of religion, linguistics, and cultural studies. Finally, the research aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which emphasizes the modernization of Hajj services through digital transformation (Saudi Press Agency [SPA], 2025b). By addressing the gaps in current mobile applications and proposing an AI system that is both innovative and aligned with national priorities, this study supports broader efforts to improve the pilgrim experience. METHODOLOGY This study adopts a design and development research (DDR) approach to build and evaluate a Generative AI-integrated chatbot for Hajj and Umrah learning and support. The methodology consists of four main phases. Figure 1 depicts the phases involved in the proposed Generative AI- Integrated Chatbot development. The first phase is Needs Analysis. In this phase, existing Hajj and Umrah learning materials, mobile apps, and other digital support tools are carefully reviewed to understand what is already available for pilgrims. Figure 1. Four Phases of the Proposed Generative AI-Integrated Chatbot Development This review helps to see which resources are useful and which areas still need improvement. The process also includes identifying gaps such as limited accessibility for elderly users, lack of personalized guidance for different groups of pilgrims, and the absence of real-time support during rituals. Another important part of this phase is seeking advice from religious scholars and experienced practitioners. Their input ensures that the information provided by the system fully follows Shariah rules and remains accurate and trustworthy. By combining both technical evaluation and religious consultation, this step builds a strong foundation for the next phases. The outcome of the needs analysis is a clear understanding of what pilgrims truly require, such as simple explanations
