E-Prosiding Persidangan Serantau Manasik Haji 2025 (MANASIK2025)

MANASIK2025 Putrajaya, Malaysia, 7-8 Oktober 2025 601 a facilitator of worship. These applications directly address long-standing challenges associated with managing one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, offering pilgrims greater security, inclusivity, and confidence in fulfilling their sacred obligations (Alafif et al., 2025; Shambour & Gutub, 2022). At the same time, the integration of AI into Hajj requires careful consideration of ethical, cultural, and theological dimensions. Concerns regarding privacy, data security, over-reliance on automation, and the preservation of authenticity in ritual practice highlight the need for a balanced approach (Qurashi & Sharpley, 2018; Rahman et al., 2022). Technology must remain a servant to the spiritual essence of Hajj, ensuring that advancements enhance rather than replace the embodied, communal, and devotional dimensions of worship. This values-based approach is essential for safeguarding the sanctity of the pilgrimage while leveraging the efficiency of intelligent systems. Looking forward, the use of AI in Hajj also provides broader insights for managing other large-scale global events, particularly in areas of health, safety, and multilingual coordination. However, the uniqueness of Hajj as a profound spiritual journey necessitates culturally responsive design that prioritizes religious authenticity alongside technological innovation. Policymakers, religious scholars, and technology developers must work collaboratively to develop frameworks for AI adoption that are ethically sound, theologically grounded, and practically effective. In conclusion, AI offers profound opportunities but also complex challenges for the future of Hajj. Its successful integration will depend on striking a delicate equilibrium between innovation and tradition. If managed responsibly, AI can enrich the Hajj experience — making it not only safer and more efficient but also more spiritually meaningful for generations of pilgrims to come. REFERENCES 1.
