ABSTRACT This article explores the common misinformation about orthodontic treatment found on social media. Common concerns among others are that orthodontic treatment is extremely painful, the same treatment plan is suitable for everyone, clear aligners can replace braces, or certain ages may be too old for orthodontic treatment. It is important to verify the information source when researching orthodontic treatment online. Introduction The digital era has transformed how individuals access healthcare information, including orthodontics. Social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook have emerged as popular sources of information for patients seeking information about orthodontic treatment. While these platforms provide easy access to orthodontic discussions, they may propagate misinformation and myths. The spread of misleading or incorrect information poses significant risks to patients, influencing their treatment decisions and potentially causing harm.
