12 Sa c īd Ḥawwā also opines that one of the things that need to be included in the knowledge of Allah SWT is to know the meanings of Mutashābihāt or ambiguous verses. It is also to apply and comprehend these verses in the right way. He also argues that the Sālikīn or the seekers of Allah’s pleasure who indulge in these verses with great pleasure. However, Sa c īd Ḥawwā also warns the believers that in this essential stage there is a lot of obliquity where most people go astray and get misguided. The words of many are again taken to mean the opposite of what they wanted to mean. In such situations, only those for whom Allah SWT opens the door of correct understanding, in accordance with c ilm or knowledge, can comprehend what is right and what is wrong and ultimately identify where the error is. Having been blessed with this capacity, one can differentiate between what is correct and what is not, but unfortunately, we see many ones who favour things that have no basis, such as bid c ah, kufr, or deviant. In such cases, only those who have been blessed by Allah SWT can apply the issues in their proper places. Thus, Sa c īd Ḥawwā acclaims those who can grasp the appropriate knowledge of Allah SWT are those who have been enlightened by the guidance of Allah SWT as they talk only about truth and wisdom. Allah says: Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe (unto Him). But the chosen servants of Allah (are safe from all this), (Surah Al-Saffat, 37: 159-160) As a conclusion, Sa c īd Ḥawwā elaborates the importance of the spiritual element to one’s self. He emphasizes on the spiritual meanings of rῡh (soul), qalb (heart), nafs (self) and c aql (mind) in his Tarbiyatunā al-Rῡhiyyah . Each part has been specified for the manifestation of Allah i.e ubudiyyat (His bondage). The purity of one’s heart is determined by the proportion of one’s external and internal enlightenment. As explicitly states in the Qur’ ā n that Allah SWT has created Adam (p.b.u.h) in His own image ( Surat) and His attributes. Therefore, the signs of purity of heart will be proved in the proportion of a person carrying out his c ubῡdiyyat and implementing His name and attributes in himself without any opposition to the sole dignity of Allah SWT.
