MA JA L AH A L - H I KMAH 36 The study of Muhibah in the Malaysian context demonstrates that harmony in a pluralistic society is not accidental but cultivated through shared values of moderation, respect, mutual love, and wasatiyyah. Rooted in history, Muhibah reflects the spirit of coexistence, kinship, and compassion that transcends racial and religious boundaries, and it offers a guiding framework of moderation, justice, and balance in navigating differences. This article will demonstrate Muhibah from the Malaysian pluralistic view and Muhibah Values in Malaysian Pluralistic Society The Historical Development of Religion in Malaysia Malaysia is observed for its diversity pertaining to cultures, religions, and the people. It was famously known for its multi-religious background in the history whereby it became the meeting place for the traders all across the world. It is also amazing that Malaysia continues to become such a vibrant “home” for all religions of the world, including Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Chinese Religions, Sikhism, and the aborigines’ belief. According to the recent statistics of Malaysia, the total population is more than 34 million, where approximately 63% are Muslims, 19% are Buddhists, 9% are Christians, 6% are Hindus, and the remaining 3% are the adherents of atheism, no religion, and other religions (Bahaism, Taoism, Confucianism, Tribal, and Traditional Chinese Religions). Dr. Marina Munira Abdul Mutalib Pensyarah, Fakulti Kepimpinan dan Pengurusan (FKP), USIM marina.m@usim.edu.my highlight the values cherished by all Malaysians. In doing so, the article attempts to investigate scholars’ opinions about their understanding of Muhibah and how it will pave the way for a harmonious and peaceful Malaysia.
