The Top Brands for QR Code Mobile Payment Usage Bank Islam, e-wallet apps, and Maybank QR Pay are the top 3 brands preferred by Malaysian university students when using QR code mobile payment. Conclusions The rise of digital commerce has transformed global financial transactions. Mobile payments are becoming more popular around the world, including in Malaysia. Customers can now pay with their phones as more and more providers enter the market. Since the pandemic, the adoption of digital payments has quickened significantly, and this trend is expected to continue as people become more familiar with the technology. Despite the advantages and ease of use of mobile payment systems, uptake in Malaysia is still considered low. Nevertheless, there is still room for improvement in Malaysia’s efforts to create a cashless society, as this is one of the critical success factors in the country’s transition to a digital economy. Malaysia is on the right track in terms of digital payments growth, even if it is slow. On the academic front, QR code mobile payment is still in its infancy, hence there is sparse empirical research in this area. Therefore, a study that addresses this research topic is still relevant, especially in emerging markets such as Malaysia. Practically, the goal of making Malaysia a cashless nation could be achieved in a short period of time if the frequency of mobile payment usage increases. The government could also integrate more QR code apps into a range of government services to encourage Malaysians to use QR code as one of the payment methods. In addition, merchants should take the opportunity to make their QR code payment more user-friendly and rewarding to encourage customers to go cashless.
