61 / 87 ABSTRACT: In today's digital age, phishing attacks represent 91% of all cybercrimes, causing billions in losses annually. Despite widespread awareness campaigns, many individuals, particularly digital newcomers, remain vulnerable to sophisticated social engineering tactics. "Phishing Defender" addresses this critical gap through an innovative escape room-style educational game that transforms cybersecurity learning from passive information consumption into active, experiential education. Our game targets students, young professionals, and family members who need practical cybersecurity skills but find traditional training methods boring or ineffective. The core learning objective is to enable players to identify and respond appropriately to phishing attempts through hands-on practice in a risk-free environment. The narrative begins with an emotional hook — a panicked phone call from your brother who nearly fell victim to a phishing scam. Players must investigate their environment, discovering interactive objects that teach phishing identification techniques. Core features include: • Interactive Phishing Analysis: Real-time examination of suspicious messages with highlighted red flags. • Progressive Quiz System: Knowledge validation through contextual challenges. • Immediate Feedback Loop: Points, achievements, and visual rewards reinforce correct behaviors. • Skill Progression Tracking: Visual representation of cybersecurity competencies gained. By gamifying cybersecurity education through narrative engagement, environmental exploration, and puzzle-solving mechanics, Phishing Defender transforms abstract security concepts into memorable, practical skills. Players don't just learn about phishing — they experience the investigation process, make decisions, and see immediate consequences, creating deeper understanding and retention. This approach addresses the critical need for engaging, effective cybersecurity education in our increasingly digital world.
