49 / 87 ABSTRACT: The Outbreak of Nightmare is an immersive adventure survival game developed using Unity .Many students struggle to connect abstract biological ideas, such how viruses spread and how to avoid infections, to practical applications. Passive learning techniques are frequently used in traditional classrooms, which may not keep students interested or help them understand how science relates to everyday life. Without hands-on, interactive experiences, students could not fully comprehend how infectious diseases spread and the importance of medical services and preventative measures. An interesting, game-based learning resource that helps students relate to, remember, and understand fundamental scientific concepts is required to close this gap. This project enhances the development team’s proficiency in Unity game development, including scripting in C#, object-oriented programming, scene management, animation control, and game logic implementation. It also encourages collaborative problem-solving, UI/UX design, and asset integration. Not only that, the major goal of the game is also to teach players about how viruses spread, how important it is to take precautions (such not encountering infected carriers), and how medical treatments can help people get better, all while having fun. The game features Unity-powered 2D and 3D gameplay, offering players smooth controls and an immersive visual experience that enhances engagement. Core to the gameplay is a stealth-based survival mechanic, where players must navigate dangerous environments, evade zombies, and strategically search for essential keys and items to progress. As players advance through the game, they encounter level-based progression that introduces increasing enemy difficulty and opportunities for player upgrades, maintaining challenge and interest. An interactive item system allows players to collect and use tools such as grenades and healing potions to improve their chances of survival. Real-time feedback and dynamic outcomes based on player decisions create a responsive gaming environment where choices have meaningful consequences. To reinforce the educational objective, in-game biology quiz questions based on Biology KSSM syllabus are integrated at key points, testing players’ understanding of viral transmission and prevention while ensuring that learning is an active and engaging part of the experience. This game targets students, casual gamers, and young adults interested in suspenseful gameplay with strategic decision-making. It is also suitable for programming and game design learners who want to study Unity-based game development. Moreover, the game teaches science literacy, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities in a fun and useful way by mixing fun and instructive topics.
