4 / 87 ABSTRACT: Figure 1.1: Graphical abstract showing the overview of the project. Problem Statement Pharmacy education is evolving to align with the dynamic landscape of the healthcare industry, requiring students to possess comprehensive knowledge and skills. Among the most critical yet challenging courses are ethics and legislation, which students struggle to engage with. Aim and objectives To address this, we have implemented a physical educational escape room in 2024. It is tailored to the pharmacy ethics and legislation curriculum, which was perceived positively by the students and showed marked improvement in their knowledge gained. Hence, to improve the sustainability of the initiative, we developed a virtual educational escape room using the Unity software to tackle the standard stigma of pharmacy students only learn by the book. Methodology This initiative is designed based on the A daptability, C ontent Integration, Educational Alignment, and Teamwork (ACE+) principle, aligned with universal design and social-constructivist pedagogical theories. The virtual educational escape room is set on a fictional high-standard pharmaceutical company where the students must investigate and solve puzzles to unlock their escape and prove their worthiness as principled pharmacists. The puzzles and challenges are the core features, and they are designed based on key Acts and Regulations governing pharmacy practice. Additionally, progression levels with time pressure mechanics are incorporated to engage and motivate students to complete the tasks. To foster healthy competition, a rewards system is integrated. Conclusion Our project aims to enhance the learning experience, foster a deeper understanding of essential ethical and legislative concepts. We anticipate that this approach will not only increase motivation among pharmacy students but also lead to improved academic outcomes.
