ABSTRACT COMPILATION - EduGC 2025
45 / 87 ABSTRACT Grasping abstract Computer Science concepts such as algorithms, constants, variables, data types, and control structures can be difficult when learning tools lack engagement and real-world relevance. Silat Sintaks , a 2D platformer game, addresses this issue by combining gamification with education, cultural heritage, and environmental awareness in a creative and meaningful way. The primary objective is to help Form 4 students strengthen their computational thinking and problem-solving skills through interactive gameplay aligned with the national Computer Science syllabus. Players take on the role of Silat Boi , a young warrior who uses coding knowledge to solve challenges within a narrative-driven environment focused on environmental protection. Core features include pixel-art visuals inspired by Malay culture, Silat martial arts elements, and coding challenges embedded within each level. To progress, players must apply their understanding of algorithms, variables, constants, data types, and control structures in missions that involve restoring clean water, combating pollution, and protecting biodiversity, effectively linking digital learning with real-world environmental issues. This approach not only increases student engagement but also fosters awareness of sustainability, environmental protection, and cultural values. The target audience for Silat Sintaks is primarily secondary school students (Form 4), particularly those studying Computer Science, along with teachers seeking innovative, culturally relevant digital tools to enhance their teaching. Educational institutions may also adopt this platform to promote digital literacy while integrating environmental and cultural education. Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Silat Sintaks supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through innovative educational methods, SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) via environmental missions, SDG 13 (Climate Action) by raising awareness of environmental issues, and SDG 15 (Life on Land) through efforts to preserve nature. This game nurtures both programming concepts and a sense of environmental responsibility in students.
