ABSTRACT COMPILATION - EduGC 2025
27 / 87 ABSTRACT: Environmental care awareness is a crucial component in preserving and sustaining our natural surroundings. In Sarawak, ongoing cleanliness issues particularly those related to sea and river pollution not only disturb tourists but also have severe implications for human health, biodiversity, and community well-being. Cultivating environmental consciousness from an early age is essential, especially among primary schoolchildren, who represent the future stewards of the environment. This research aims to develop an interactive educational game that raises environmental care awareness among primary school students, with a focus on sea pollution. The learning objectives are: (1) to identify major environmental problems that critically impact biodiversity; (2) to evaluate effective methods for addressing these issues; (3) to design a suitable game that communicates environmental values to children; and (4) to validate the effectiveness of the game in enhancing awareness. The game is developed using GDevelop, an open-source game engine, and integrates core features such as problem-solving tasks, quizzes, and real-life environmental scenarios. These elements are designed to encourage behavioural change and reinforce the importance of caring for the environment through fun and engaging gameplay. The research adopts a mixed-method approach (quantitative and qualitative) to ensure comprehensive feedback from stakeholders, including educators and students. The final product is an educational tool aligned with the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030 and Rural Development Policy (DPLB), supporting sustainable biodiversity through digital innovation. This initiative not only promotes awareness but also empowers the younger generation to play an active role in environmental protection.
