ABSTRACT COMPILATION - EduGC 2025
22 / 87 ABSTRACT: Mark mAI Word is a classroom game designed to make writing lessons more engaging and interactive. Teaching writing can often feel dry for both teachers and students. In the past, I’ve used peer reviews and shared feedback sessions to make things more interesting. This game builds on those ideas by letting students roleplay as tutors who evaluate short paragraphs. It turns writing feedback into a fun and challenging activity. The game supports learning outcomes from the course Writing about Literature 2 , especially helping students learn how to develop and organise their ideas in a paragraph. It focuses on three key writing skills: having a clear topic sentence, giving specific details, and keeping the paragraph unified. It also helps students practise thinking carefully and critically about writing. There are 12 sample paragraphs in the current version, with plans to add more in future updates. The game uses a cozy “retro computer” look, with soft colours and calming background music to create a relaxed experience. Players race against the clock to pick the best feedback for each paragraph. The scoring system rewards correct choices and gives deductions when players miss important issues or give the wrong kind of feedback. The game was built using Gemini Pro 2.5, and I want to be fully transparent that I did not write any of the code myself. Instead, I designed and developed the game by providing detailed prompts and creative direction to Gemini. This project is also an exploration of how educators can meaningfully co-create learning tools with AI, without having traditional technical skills. This game is mainly made for university students taking writing-based courses, but it can also be useful for anyone who wants to get better at giving feedback or understanding what makes a paragraph effective. Teachers can use it as a creative way to introduce writing activities and show how feedback works in real time.
